I dedicated my life to protect wildlife and environment!

Using iNaturalist to find what species exists in the area you want to visit.

While i was in London on September, i was wondering where i could find some wildlife to photograph. I was staying in a hostel over Hyde Park and that was meaning that everyday i was passing through Hyde Park to visit the tourist attractions.

Then the idea came: to look on the inaturalist app, which by the way i am uploading huge amount of wildlife observations and i know how it works.

It is easy to find the species. You look the area you want to visit or you are already there and you can apply for filters if you want, to specify for what species (i.e. fungi, birds, reptiles, plants, etc) you want to see, and the quality grade.

There it's the best to choose all of them (Research Grade, Needs ID, Casual Grade), so even if a species has been recorded without photo or it hasn't identified by 2 or more people to go to Research Grade you will be able to see them.

And in the end you are choosing the Species Tab on the top of the app, which it has the number of the species it can be found on the area and filters you chose.

In Hyde Park there have been recorded 650 species. But in 3 days in Hyde Park, i was able to record over 30 species (most of them birds).

So iNaturalist is a very good platform to know what species you can find in the area you will visit, but that depends also if citizens are putting their observations on the platform, even if it's a small everyday observation.
Those who don't like what i am writing and they think it's offensive to their groups, they can leave and never return.
